Olive Strachan MBE
During her career as a global entrepreneur has worked in over 25 countries, however, she has never worked in her place of birth Dominica, West Indies. During the second lockdown in Manchester UK. Olive and her husband decided that it would be a good time to establish a branch of Olive Strachan Resources in the Caribbean, which is one of her life goals.
Part of the plan to grow and develop her business in Dominica involved networking and establishing her brand. With this in mind, Olive became a member of the Dominica Association on Industry and Commerce DAIC.
On 4th February 2021, Olive Strachan held her first event in Dominica, West Indies. The purpose of the event was to introduce Olive Strachan Resources limited to the local businesses in Roseau Dominica.
The event was the start of a book signing tour for the book ‘The Power of you’ which was written by Olive Strachan whilst in Lockdown in Manchester, UK during the Covid-10 pandemic.
The event was held at Charlotte Estate, which is a plantation house built during the 1800 hundreds.
Due to covid-19 restrictions we had to limit numbers to 25 business professionals, to receive a copy of Olive’s book, network and listen to a motivational speech by Olive on how to overcome Imposter Syndrome, focus on their goals and remain positive during these challenging times.
It was a lively and interactive session with delegates taking the opportunity to meet and network with others.
The event was such a success that Olive has received a request to organise another event on similar lines at the Pagua Bay House Hotel, in Marigot Dominica on Friday 26th February 2021.
Event Testimonials
Let me paint the picture of this enjoyable event. The setting is an old plantation house, called Charlotte Estate, built in the 1920s in Newtown. Surrounded by a lovely garden, it was the perfect ambiance for the launch of The Power of You, written by Olive Strachan. On this sunny afternoon, a warm welcome awaited everyone with a variety of beverages and a welcome package that included a copy of the book.
Olive takes you on a journey of her early childhood where life was carefree on the Nature Isle Dominica, to a very different environment in the UK. Life in a very cold and grey country is daunting. She chronicles her experiences in the UK and inspite of her many trials and tribulations her persistence pays off. A successful career culminating in her being awarded an MBE.
